IF YOU REACH THE ROOM WITH THE LONG TEXT, YOU HAVE WON

You are a cat stuck in a dying simulation. And you are not allowed to leave.
Before everything falls apart, explore it using the game interface at your disposal.
After all, you all share the same simulation. What you see is what the world sees.

The theme of this game was: removing standard metroidvania abilities, such as attacking, while making the solutions to puzzles things that would never have been assumed to affect gameplay normally. Can't give away too much! In other words, "you can't do that? you can do that??"

It doesn't seem like it fits the theme much because many of the things are not implemented, but still, gotta publish something, right?

Made for the UNC spring 2023 game jam.

Fun fact: 403 is the error code for access forbidden. It's called 40:3 because :3 cat

CONTROLS:

Left and Right to move

Space to jump

Up and Down to climb ladders

Hidden mechanic - you figure it out but it is probably intuitive

ESC - options

C to dash

V to grab walls (and you can jump off them)

SPOILERS:

If you get stuck (yes this is very easy to get confused on since everything is very cryptic), here are some hints:

Enemies react to the sound of you moving. If there is no sound, they will no longer attack you.

Danger is color coded. However, if you remove the color in question, then there is no way for it to hurt you.

The game is displayed in two dimensions. However, who is to say you can't traverse along a third one in some sense?

SPOILER THAT JUST STRAIGHT UP TELLS YOU HOW TO PLAY:

Go into options and slide everything to the left = easy bypass

Press W or S to swap your Z layer, allowing you to collide with the background instead of the foreground, functionally bypassing enemy and laser collision as well
